Ecological Day Celebration
“Let us nurture the nature, so that we can have a better future”
The celebration of the world Ecological day or the world environment day began in 1974 and is a well-known global platform for bringing positive changes in our environment. It is celebrated in over 100 countries. It is one of the principal vehicles through which the United Nations (UN) stimulates worldwide awareness of the environment and enhances political attention and action
The St. Mary Champion H. S. School whole heartedly celebrated the Ecological Day on Monday, the 28th day of July 2019 with full vigour and enthusiasm. The celebration started a week earlier as the ‘Ecological Week’ with special morning assemblies dedicated to the environment. Disha Jaiswal & Itika Sharma of Class X together presented a thought provoking speech on environment pollution. It was followed by a ‘Nukkad Natak’ from VII standard students where they expressed their views on the human activities that destroy the environment. The students of Class IX & X displayed the importance of trees and the consequences of not having them through a mesmerising and captivating dance performance.
The Chief Guest in her address urged the children to do their best for the mother earth. The Principal offered the Vote of Thanks and also highlighted the importance of keeping our environment clean and green.
After the cultural programme, The Chief Guest, an ex-student of the school, Ms. Neha Sahu, Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Badnawar, the school Principal Mrs. Isabel Swamy, Director Mr. S. L. Swamy along with the Administrators of both the campuses Mr. Vivek Swamy and Mr. Vivek Swamy accompanied the students to officially inaugurate the plantation program by planting a sapling in the garden. All students have bought various kinds of saplings and they planted them in the garden and took an oath to plant more trees and save the nature.
To add more colour to the day, an activity was also held in which the students created ‘seed balls’ with the help of compost and can be used to grow trees in a large area.
Environment is everything that determines the life of us human beings on this earth. The main aim of observing this day is to change the attitude towards environment and advocate positive steps to ensure a safe and sustainable future.
