Inter-house debate competition: Saturday, 15th July,2017.

Competition is essentially an integral part of the students’ life, as each one has to face and compete with others in order to attain his goal or excel others in the field where one belongs to. Competitions play a great role in motivating students to perform and excel and offer a lot more reward than just the winning prize. Competitions offer a chance for participants to gain substantial experience, showcase skills, analyze and evaluate outcomes and uncover personal aptitude. Competitions also encourage students to adopt innovative techniques and develop their ideas and skills. In this way, competitions can prove to be a great source of self-evaluation for students and help nurture their experience and skills further.

With the same perspective in view, on 15th of July, the literary committee organized a debate competition for the students of class IX to XII. The topic of the debate was- ‘Is social media destroying our social relationship’? The participants of the four houses were given guidelines and also shown video clippings on debate competition (literary activity).  So that they gain an insight of the activity and thus help them perform the best they could.

The representatives of the four houses spoke vehemently on the issue and came up with their perspective regarding the same. They cited reasons and supported them with suitable examples from real life, to justify their view point. The judge presiding over the competition, our Director, was deeply engrossed in the ideas of the students as he was to judge the participants. Congratulating and complimenting the winners he emphasized the need to speak English in school compulsorily and listen to others very carefully in order to develop the sense of oratory which ultimately makes one a good debater.  The students of class IX to XII, were the audience of the show, who enjoyed the debate thoroughly.
