Yoga Day observed at SMCS
Since its inception in the year 2015, the 21st day of June is celebrated as The International Yoga Day all over the world. The idea was proposed by our Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi. He said, “Yoga is an invaluable gift of India’s ancient tradition. It embodies unity of mind and body; thought and action; restraint and fulfilment; harmony between man and nature; a holistic approach to health and well-being. It is not just about exercise but to discover the sense of oneness with yourself, the world and the nature. By changing our lifestyle and creating consciousness, it can help in well being of all individuals.”
International Yoga Day was celebrated by the teachers at St. Mary Champion H. S. School with great enthusiasm. All the teachers of both the campuses gathered together at the Suryadev Nagar campus where Mr. Sonu Jatav led them to perform various asanas including Vrakshasan, Tadasan, Dhanurasan, Makarasan, etc. followed by the chanting of ‘Omkar’. The celebration concluded with synchronized recitation of the Gayatri Mantra.
The school believes that regular practice of yoga will surely help our society achieve a better life, physically, mentally, spiritually and will ultimately bring harmony in the nation.
